We had a fun little get-away last weekend to Utah. John's nephew Michael was getting married. We left Thursday and drove to Salt Lake to check into our motel. The girls (including Brittani) were a little dissapointed that we weren't into checking out the swimming pool at 9:30 p.m. when we arrived. ;)
Friday I was up at 6:45 to get ready for the big wedding. Ceremony at 10 at Butte Gardens- Very Beautiful!
Quick tour of the Conference Center. This was inspiring because it's a wonderful building, tons of art - all originals, fountains, miraculous building facts, and a meadow on top of the building to show what the Salt Lake Valley looked like when the pioneers came to settle it. It was absolutely amazing! And then Grace absolutely had to find a bathroom so we ran back to find one! Luncheon at the Lion House -This was delightful and filling!
Gayle and John very kindly take little, tired Clara back to the motel for a rest. Grace, Emma and I take a few hours to tour Temple square and see the movie in the Legacy theature. They loved the Tabernacle because they got to take off their shoes and dance while someone practiced the big organ. The sisters missionaries were very sweet there and said, "They're not bothering anyone. Just let them do it."
Then a reception at the Bride's house. Very nice with cheesecake and boquet throwing and such.
Saturday included a breakfast at Dan's pad and then a nice long play at Liberty Park before getting on the road to come home. Liberty Park is great with a terrific playground, little amusement park (5 little old rides -very quaint), paddle boats, and great hill for rolling, and little streams for playing in the water. Unfortunately the water for the little streams was turned off.
Gayle spent the day with us and rode home. She was very helpful with everyone which was nice so I could have a little break now and then.
The drive home was fun but a little tiring. We arrived home about midnight.
